AGI lectures for Adult Learners’ Week 2016 at the National Library of Ireland

Members of AGI will present five lunchtime lectures during Adult Learners’ Week 2016 at the National Library of Ireland.  The lectures will introduce genealogical sources that might be used to document ancestors who were alive in 1916 or who were active during the Rising. The late Eileen O’Byrne

All in Accredited Genealogists Ireland (AGI) are saddened by the death of Eileen O’Byrne, BA, BL, FAGI, FIGRS. Eileen was one of our founding members and a very unassuming, generous colleague, while being very knowledgeable about all aspects of genealogical sources and research. Eileen qualified as a barrister and was called to the bar before raising her family. In the mid-1960s she began working as a genealogical researcher for the Genealogical Office, Dublin Castle. Accredited Genealogists Ireland Annual Report for 2015

2015 was a busy year for AGI – Accredited Genealogists Ireland (formerly APGI – the Association of Professional Genealogists in Ireland), including a change of name. AGI welcomed five new Members in 2015 – Anne Rodda, Joanna Cicely Fennell, Elaine Hannon, Sandra Doble and Beverly Brown. Both Elaine and Sandra graduated to full membership from Affiliate status. Patricia Moorhead appointed Emeritus Member of AGI

Accredited Genealogists Ireland (AGI) is pleased to announce that its very first Emeritus Member is Patricia Moorhead. She is a popular figure in Irish genealogy, known particularly for her witty and entertaining talks. Pat, as she is familiarly known to her friends, has been involved in family history research for over two decades. She was passed by the APGI (now AGI) assessors in 1999 and retained membership until a year ago, when she chose to retire.
