While many of AGI’s current members are based in the greater Dublin area, there are members in Belfast, Clare, Cork, Derry / Londonderry, Down, Galway, Kerry, Mayo, Offaly and Waterford. As individuals, many of these members contribute much of their free time to voluntary work in family history circles, serving on the committees of amateur societies, lecturing and contributing articles to genealogical journals.
Developments in Irish genealogy in recent years have been rapid. AGI has been to the fore in endeavouring to guarantee that high standards are applied and that public access of records is maintained and improved. It is a small organisation, but a resourceful and successful one.
