Eilish Feeley, a professional genealogist based in County Roscommon, has had a keen interest in family and local history since childhood. While growing up in rural County Longford, she developed a deep and abiding fascination with the rural landscape of her locality, the families who lived there, their stories of emigration and the footprints they left behind in the form of ruined homesteads and family records.

Following years of undertaking research into the ancestral branches of her own family and tracing ancestors who had emigrated over the generations, Eilish decided to undertake a number of educational courses to support the knowledge she had gained through her years of research. In 2016 she qualified from the University of Limerick with a Certificate in History of Family & Genealogical Methods. In 2019 she was awarded a first class honours Master of Arts in History of the Family from University of Limerick and completed National Tour Guide training in 2021. She also works as a volunteer with her local community on heritage research projects.

In her career as a professional genealogist Eilish has carried out family history research for clients of Irish descent across the globe including clients from the United States, Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand. She has also undertaken research for American and English authors and TV programmes. Eilish keeps up to date with new sources and developments in the field of genealogy through membership of a number of national and international genealogical and historical societies.
