Having formally retired from professional genealogy, Justin Homan Martin has been elected an Emeritus Member of Accredited Genealogists Ireland in recognition of his many years of committed service to the Association and Irish genealogy.
Justin began his career as a professional genealogist in 1984, receiving credentials from AGI in 1992, which was then known as APGI – the Association of Professional Genealogists in Ireland. In addition to running a very successful practice covering all aspects of genealogical research, but with a specialisation in seventeenth and eighteenth century sources, Justin also undertook probate, adoption and general historical research. His work has contributed to several published biographical works.
On hearing of his election, Justin said “I am greatly honoured by this news (which came to me as a pleasant surprise) and I thank all those members responsible for the decision to elect me as a Emeritus Member of Accredited Genealogists Ireland. Although retired from professional genealogy, I still proffer advice on family research to those who require it or seek it, and I frequently use the opportunity to promote the professional services available through AGI.”
AGI is thrilled to be able to acknowledge Justin’s long contribution to the world of Irish genealogy and wishes him a long and happy retirement. He will no doubt spend his additional free time on his love of oil painting.
