Hilary was always interested in history and the family, bolstered by a treasure trove of family photographs dating right back to the 1800s. However, it was her discovery of a detailed family tree, meticulously crafted by her grandfather’s cousin, that
transformed a casual interest into a lifelong pursuit.
She’s made it her mission to help others discover more about their ancestry, by either undertaking research on their behalf or advising them on how to do it themselves.
Hilary has turned her passion into a service through her business, Irish Ancestry.
A researcher, speaker, tutor, and author, she has been professionally involved for over 20 years in genealogical and family research.
She is a graduate of University College Dublin with a B.A. in History and Geography, a Diploma in Family History and Genealogy (1st Class Hons), and a Diploma in DNA Genetic Genealogy with the Trace DNA Academy. She also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing Management from Staffordshire University (UK).
Hilary has been teaching a Genealogy Course in the Cabinteely Adult Education for a number of years.
She is also part of the Genealogy Advisory team at the National Archive of Ireland, a role she previously held for many years at the National Library of Ireland.
