Susan Chadwick

Susan Chadwick, MAGI

Areas of research: All of Ireland

Susan’s interest in family history stems from a mystery surrounding her granduncle who moved to Texas in the 1920s and lost touch with his family back in Ireland. Through extensive research, she found details of his life, career and family and eventually made contact with his descendants in California. Encouraged by this success, she has since traced her maternal line in Ireland back to the 1650s.
Susan set up her business Of Irish Descent in 2009 and has conducted research for numerous clients across the globe. She obtained a Diploma in Genealogy from University College Dublin in 2011. She appeared on The Genealogy Roadshow in 2014 and the Irish version of Who Do You Think You Are? in 2018 for RTE. She has given genealogy lectures and workshops as part of Heritage Week, and written articles for her local historical journal. Susan has been a member of AGI since 2010 and served a term as Hon. Treasurer. She is currently Hon. Secretary of AGI (2024-2026). Living in Co. Offaly, Susan is centrally located to carry out research throughout Ireland.
