Gerry Kennedy BSc, MA, (Obit. 2020)

Gerry Kennedy died 19th August 2020. He had a lifelong interest in genealogy and in local and family history. He held a BSc in Mutual and Community Business from University College Cork. He spent his working life in the Department of Social Protection where he worked as an Inspector, Area Manager and later as Regional Coordinator
In 2010, Gerry became a member of Accredited Genealogists Ireland.

Earlier, in 2005 he obtained an MA in History of the Family from the University of Limerick. His post retirement career as a full-time genealogist was built upon thirty years involvement in a more leisurely part-time pursuit of local history and genealogy in the Co. Clare area. He was also a member of the London-based Society of Genealogists.

Gerry published articles on his local area in The Other Clare magazine and he was co-author of Tracing your Clare Ancestors, published by Flyleaf Press in 2013.

He was an active member of Clare Roots Society and a founding member of Heritage Inchicronan and published the Crusheen Parish baptism records for the years 1860 to 1880 online at: www.crusheen.com.

His specialist research area was Co. Clare and south Co. Galway, but was equally a most competent researcher who undertook work for clients with ancestors from across the island of Ireland. He also had a particular interest in researching the histories of houses and other buildings.
